Ok, everybody. The TA's have finished writing the answers to all of the exam questions. As you have seen, nothing is tricky. A little advice: in your answer, follow the structure that the question has set up for you. If the question asks you to summarize so and so's argument, then talk about a city, then speculate, construct your answer in that order. Following the order will make this whole exam run a lot smoother. Don't be afraid to draw from texts/lectures outside of those recommended by the question, but be sure to keep on track and answer the question given. don't write just to write. Good luck. I'm sure that everyone will do great.

averages are posted on the course folder. please email me with any questions. as far as studying for the exam goes, it will probably be most beneficial to study in groups. if you have any specific questions or articles that you don't understand, feel free to email me. i won't be around school much next week, but i will try to check my email frequently.
I'm just proud that you actually READ the comments!! PS More to come. Sorry that I'm so slow. As far as studying for the exams goes, if anyone needs help, please let me know.
- Hey Lida. Thanx for all the comments. I appreciate it. It really helps us : )

Grades are now posted on the course folder. I apologize for their extreme tardiness. Not all of the grades are posted, so the blank spots will be filled in over the next week. Overall, summaries have improved dramatically since the disolution of PedEx, and the grades reflect your effort. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me ASAP. I will be posting comments tomorrow (Monday) evening. As the term draws to a close, please address any questions or concerns that you have directly to me by email. That is the most efficient way to reach me. Good luck and good work. Thanks, Lida

As you all hopefully know, this week's summaries are due on Friday. As a note for this next set of summaries, grading will be conducted (as has been the case all semester) as follows:
grade 1: Not turned in on time (within 24 hours)
grade 2: (=C) Does not follow the template structure or does so carelessly. Does not address adequately three or more of the parts. Writing is sloppy: spelling errors, disconnected sentences, etc.
grade 3: (=B) Follows the template but does not address adequately all 4 parts (misses the main point, does not play back the sequence, does not identify important terms, etc.). Writing is adequate.
grade 4: (=A) Follows the template and covers all 4 parts well. Writing is coherent and grammatically correct.
Whether you write in bullet points or paragraph form, all work should be in complete sentences and well crafted.
These summaries should be useful to you as study guides for the final exam.
If you have any questions or need help with your summaries (I know that some of you have expressed concern about your grades), please don't hesitate to email me or catch me after class. I want everyone to get as much out of this class (and the best grades) as possible. Attendance and participation in the lecture discussion pages will influence your grade and MAKE SURE TO TURN IN ALL SUMMARIES!!! Missing summaries have been very detrimental to averages!!! My desk is in the third floor grad studio to the left of the grad computer lab. Feel free to look for me there if you need anything.

Apparently there has been a hold put on the PedEx project. If your group has already photographed your blocks and scheduled a meeting with me, great. If your group has already photographed your blocks and not scheduled a meeting, please go ahead and schedule one with me for tomorrow (Friday) or sometime next week. If your group has not photographed your blocks, then you're lucky! Hold off until further instructions.
Thanks,
Lida

A lot of you haven't posted your 09/13 summaries, and some of you are missing a part of your 09/06 and 09/01 summaries! Please check to make sure that you have all of the assignments posted on your page by Monday. There should be two summaries for 09/06 and one for 09/13. I know that you have reviews at the beginning of the week, but you definitely need to have all of your summaries posted by Tuesday! I will be turning mid-term grades in on Thursday, so any missing summaries will receive a 0. Also, be sure to participate in the lecture discussion pages. Participation in these will become a part of your grade. Post thoughts on the lectures and/or readings, how they relate to each other, and how they relate to the city around us. You can also post questions there. You can also email me directly to discuss the lectures and readings. Ok, good luck with your reviews. I will be checking them out and can't wait to see what you've done.

GRADES:
You can access your grades after class on Friday by logging onto a COA computer; pull up the start menu; click on Course Work Area;
open the "Khan" folder; open the "COA 1060-Fall 2004" folder; open the "Lida Cunningham Grades" folder; find your grades according to your GTID number. The higher the grade, the better. Not everyone has comments on all of their essays. I will have comments up to date by next week. If you have any questions about your grades or the assignments, feel free to email me.
09-01
As most of you know by now, the comments that I put on your summaries are often questions. Think about the answers to these questions and keep them in your tool kit. Refer back to these questions, as they will often pertain to multiple readings. Don't forget to use spell check and read your work aloud to make sure that it is clear and logical. I will be posting a response question this week for you to answer in addition to your weekly survey. There will be a separate response page for it, so make sure to check this page often.
08-25
Ok, so I hope that everybody gets their summary posted tonight. For questions regarding social/urban fabric, look at Kyle's ta page. From time to time, I'll be posting a discussion question for our group to discuss. Please check this page regularly and feel free to post your own questions here. If you need to get in touch with me, my email is gtg247v@mail.gatech.edu. -lida
