Research Dossier Specifications
The basic Research Dossier Template is outlined below. Each GTA will flesh the Template out as necessary.
Organization
Each dossier shall be organized into the following SIX sections:
1. Legal Framework.
[Codes. Regulations]
2. Standards/Conventions.
[Required, recommended, rule-of thumb. Guidelines. Specifications]
3. Materials and Methods; Construction and Fabrication
[Materials, Techniques, Systems: Pre-fabricated, off-the-shelf, customized, Materials and Assemblies]
4. Precedents
[Examples of typical, exceptional, analogous projects]
5. Empirical Analysis
[Documentation of existing, real-world examples; Observation of user behavior]
6. Additional Resources
[Additional resources specific to the Research Dossier Topic]
Sections
Each of the SIX sections will be organized to include:
1. Summary of Findings
An overview of the contents of the dossier that helps the designer navigate the dossier. The summary should identify the elements and issues that a designer would need to know in order to develop a design proposal based on this topic
2. Annotated List of Resources
Annotated list of resource materials included in the section
3. Bibliography
Bibliography of additional resources (not included in the section)
4. Resources
High-quality xeroxes of resource, reference materials; drawings, diagrams, photographs, analyses, as necessary
Additional requirements may be established by the GTAs as necessary.
Presentation
The Research Dossier shall be compiled in a three-ring binder.
A digital version of all the material included in the Dossier shall be uploaded to cooldaze.
Specifications for the digital version shall be announced later.
