Woojin Kim

My name is Woojin Kim, I prefer to go by John for sake of easiness. I am from South Korea, and my interest of architecture is focused mainly in $$$$. Also inspired by years of lego building skills which I started since 4, although I have stopped lego building about.... 9 or 10 years.

9. Perspective
The principles of system were formulated early in the fifteenth century by young Italian renaissance artists seeking a logical means for creating unified, measurable space. It consists of converging horizontal lines and the rectangular diminution of equally spaced elements create the illusion of vast interioir space on a flat surface. Linear perspetive depends on a single fixed point of view, and objects are seen in cone of vision. interesting thing about perspective is that it has a central vanishing point, a point where all the lines meet, forming a single dot. The illusion of depth is noticeable when objects of same size recende into space at regular intervals. Two points perspective is similar to one point perspective, except that objects are not in parallel, it now is in angle. Shadow plays a uge role in perspective, it establishes volume, and sets a mood for the work.

3. learning to see.
A viewfinder can help to study vertical, horizontal , and proportional relationships. Also it amplifies the negative space. Foreshortening is the term for perspective of an organism. Using arm at full length to compare proportionality helps while drawing perspective.

Designing and inquiring
We design to improve – to make it more efficient, comfortable, workale, beautiful, etc. design problem can be divided into two groups. 1. refinement or styling that already exists. 2. design problems for which design is not needed. Or has no use for production. Our designing and inquiring are affected b what we see and what we read. We are also affected by, limited by, our experience.

To Take Paper, To Draw

In the first story, the story teller is a lover of art, who finds a new style of drawing through elderly painter. He learns to see objects in a new way.

In the second example, the artist communicated through art to a person who does not speak the same language as her. Although both did not know how to communicate via verbal language, they had another mean, through simple drawings.

In the third story, story about Picasso, he draws his wife, who has died of tuberculosis several months ago.

There are three kinds of drawings. First is drawing what artist sees. Second is drawing from what is in the mind’s eye. And third, drawing done from memory.
