Donnie Darko is an exceptional movie with many interpretations. Where our place in the universe and what is is God’s purpose for us? Our dreams and fears are manifestations of a subconscious being that fascinate all of us who wonder why we are here and why bad things happen to descent people. Although this film is generally macabre it leaves us with hope and a sense of purpose even when we are in the dark with regards to God’s purpose for each one of us. I recommend the Director’s cut and the soundtrack is awesome! The last movie I saw was “Superbad”. It was very funny and well done. I could not stop laughing. There are no slow parts to the movie and it reminds you of the stupid things that happened during your senior year of high school. Brett Krause Superbad by Joe Dembowski This movie is amazng! It was so funny and I swear I didn't stop laughing the entire movie! People will be quoting it so be sure to see it! Sunshine by James Vo Sunshine is an amazing film about the not to distant future. The sun is dying and so is everything on Earth. With stunning visuals and epic deaths, it’s definitely worth checking out. The Bourne Ultimatum, By Federico Holgado The third part of the Bourne Trilogy, it concludes what some critics call the best Trilogy of movies in American Film. The movie is action packed and cleverly written to depict the troubles of Jason Bourne. Gladiator. Just like 300 it gets the adrenaline pumping and you feel compelled to just jump out of your seat and fight the nearest person in hand-to-hand combat.John Nuttmann So, if you haven’t watched ‘The Last Legion,’ you most definitely should. It’s really good. Quick summary? Well, I suppose I could… It’s the end of the Roman Empire’s greatness; the last several Caesars have been assassinated, and the only heir to the throne is just a boy. And to make matters worse, the Visigoth army attacks and takes over Rome. All but a few royal guards are killed, and all the legions of the Empire have either been destroyed or pledged their allegiance to the Goths. What is the Emperor’s personal bodyguard to do? Well rescue him of course!!! With a small group of loyal guards, the Captain fights against all odds to rescue the boy, only to be told by the Roman Senate to send him back. But because the Captain has sworn to protect the boy, he can do nothing but run from the infuriated Goth army. There is only one place they might be safe, but the last time anyone heard from the Ninth Legion in Britannia was years ago… Fight Club Click for further info Harry Potter 5th by Youngju Lee Dumbledore's action was great when he fought with the Voldemort. The movie was so awesome, but i do not want to watch it again. Lee, Youngju Live Free or Die Hard was a great movie. Plenty of action and in good keeping with the rest of the series. Lee Urquhart “300” It’s a movie based on Frank Miller's graphic novel. It has huge cool action scenes with great visual effects. Ju Chung TRANSFORMERS This is the best movie ever made. It has all genres of movies. It is composed of comedy, coming of age, love, mystery, conspiracy theories, and of course action. It elevates the word movies to another arena, another level of awesomenessity. (Yes I had to make that word up because other movies used real words to descibe them and this surpasses them all so a new word was invented just describe this movie and its awesomenessity. Go watch it because it's great and you dont have to know anything about anything to get it, I didn't. Definitely a must see. Ralph Raymond HAIRSPRAY This is a great movie for all of you who are into musicals. It may seem like a girly movie, but it has a great plot that includes the struggles of African Americans in the 1960's and integration. Along with a great cast and catchy songs, it is a must see. Taylor Frost Donnie Darko This is a movie you will either love it or find it boring. It requires lots of thinking throughout the movie and you might not get it if you didn’t pay close attention. ariel wu “300” This movie is a classic! If you liked Gladiator, Braveheart, Troy or King Arthur you’ll love it. The 3d-rendered scenery will amaze you and the action will blow you away. If you’re going with a date, she won’t be disappointed because she’ll have 300 half naked men too drool over. Not for the squeamish. Saa Camanor The Transporter Jason Statham plays a black market goods transporter who delivers, no questions asked for high prices. Everything goes well avoiding cops and bad guys until one day his package is a woman. She becomes trouble for the tough soap allowing to show off his martial arts skills and Bond-esque smoothness. This movie provides an action-packed thrill ride for any family. This movie is not like Crank! Also, check out the sequel when he has to get back a kidnapped child! Lance Dudkowski 300 The movie 300 is a great film full of action and adventure, along with great actors, who keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Garret Mitchell Cinema Paradiso For those of you that like foreign films, this is a great one. It tells the story of a man's life (starting from childhood) and how he grows up in this small town in Italy, where he works at a movie theatre, and when he finally moves out (for romantic reasons) he becomes a famous filmmaker. If you do not like romantic movies, I recommend everyone see Ciudad de Deo. A Brazilian movie about life in the ghetto. Paola Pulido The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, AKA Shaolin Master Killer First screened in 1978, this is widely considered one of the best classic martial arts films produced by the Shaw Brothers Studio. It was directed by Lar Kar-Leung and stars Gordon Liu as a young man seeking revenge and training towards his inevitable victory by the way of the Shaolin temple. Dylan Mojher SUPERBAD was hilarious movie that will have u on the ground rolling the entire time. It is made by the same cast as 40 year old virgin and knocked up. I would highly recommend seeing it again and again Ryan Kreidler 300 300 is an epic movie, depicting the well-known story of a small Spartan army waging war against the massive (and invading) Persian army. The setting ranges from inside King Leonidas’ palace to the battle ground of Thermopylae. It boasts a cast of talented actors playing historic characters; from Gerard Butler (The Phantom of the Opera) playing great King Leonidas to Rodrigo Santoro (Love Actually) playing cruel Xerxes. 300 is worth the watch. Amanda Trent Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by Christie Ruffo Renowned British director, David Yates, miraculously manages to condense J.K. Rowling’s vast 870 page best-seller Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix into an extremely entertaining and action packed 2hrs & 15min summer blockbuster that will leave you spellbound! Harry’s back in his fifth year at Hogwarts and must contend with all the anxieties that the new school year has brought: he must take his OWL’s (nasty Ordinary Wizarding Level exams); confront his newfound feelings for his crush, Cho Chang; battle with the new teacher Professor Dolores Umbridge, who possesses a wicked side underneath all of her pink frilliness; and prevent the Dark Lord Voldemort from possessing his mind. And Harry must do all of this and more with a war looming over his head! What is a fifteen year old wizard to do? Luckily for Harry, he’s got great friends, a protective godfather, the Order of the Phoenix, and Dumbledore’s Army on his side. I am a personally a huge fan of the books, so I consider it a personal responsibility to rate and critique the HP movies accurately. The previous four installments were entertaining, but lacked some of the magic and charm that was needed to keep you on the edge of your seat. However, this fantastic fifth film gets 4.5 out of 5 stars from me! All of the actors, especially Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) managed to step it up a notch to make really believable, loveable, and some not-so-loveable characters. The visual effects, especially if you see it on IMAX, really make the movie-viewing experience worthwhile. The film also takes on a slightly ominous tone as Harry is confronted with the darker side of humanity—lies, deception, pain, and death—and must overcome these obstacles both internally and externally. So if you want to be enchanted, I highly recommend that you grab your broomstick and fly over to the nearest theatre to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! Featuring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Robbie Coltrane, Warwick Davis, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Brendan Gleeson, Richard Griffiths, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, Fiona Shaw, Maggie Smith, Imelda Staunton, David Thewlis, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, and Mark Williams (amongst others). Hairspray I recently went to see the Hairspray film with a couple of my friends. I went in not knowing much about the story line and by no means, expecting anything revolutionary. Not to say the film is revolutionary, per say, especially for this day and age, but for the characters in the movie, their lives became turned completely upside down. For those of you who don’t know, Hairspray was set in the early 1960s when integration was anything but accepted. The story revolves around a local television station and the fight of integration vs. segregation. It’s not only a coming-of-age story, but also a good representation of the struggles and triumphs of American minorities. So, whether you are a fan of musicals or not, I would definitely recommend Hairspray, not only for the catchy songs and lovable characters, but also for the excellent representation of the American quickly-changing 1960s culture. Christy Seerley The Bourne Movies are amazing! I loved the third one soooo much. Heather Eierman The Simpsons Movie was very similar to a TV show called The Simpsons. The resemblance was uncany. Zaki Ullah "Lawrence of Arabia" This movie is really amazing but also extremely long. If you're going to watch the movie you have to have a lot of free time on your hands and you really have to appreciate it or you may very well find it boring. It stars Peter O'Toole in his younger days as a British officer in Arabia who basically goes off on a mission that his superiors send him on because they think he's useless and that what he is being sent to do is a waste of time anyways. Basically, he is supposed to get the different Arab tribes to listen to what the British are saying. Its really exciting because instead, Lawrence throws everything to hell and decides to try and create a united Arabia instead free to rule themselves (the exact opposite of what the British want). Just so you know, Peter O'Toole played the king who dies in the movie "Stardust" thats out now (also, really amazing) and played the older Cassanova in that recent film. Elisabeth Robertson Live Free or Die Hard While I went into this movie with relatively low expectations, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The movie blew me away. The action and humor was non-stop. Fans of the original Die Hard movies may notice a noticeable, albeit small, increase in depth of story and character development. But those fans needn’t worry. There is still tons of action, special effects, guns and John McLane. I hadn’t been so entertained by a move since I saw Star Wars for the first time. I highly recommend Live Free or Die Hard to anyone with an appreciation for action movies. Daniel Chaney Super Bad Since my job at home pretty much rocked, I got free movie tickets and stuff!! So I had passes to get in to a preview showing of this movie!! It was hysterical and more of a guy kind of movie. ALl in all it was one of those movies where it is so ridiculously stupid it is funny!!!! Christina DeRiso Stardust In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm. A short story with great depth. Well made. Pranav Ghei Superbad I went to this movie thinking it would be really dumb but it turned out that it was hilarious. I can’t even count how many times I laughed during the film. If you liked Wedding Crashers you’ll most likely love this film! Juliana Watkins Transformers I have to agree with Ralph...the movie was pure awesomenessity! It doesn't matter if you know the story or not. The special effects are top notch and worth the praise. Also, for those that like the Computer graphics... I suggest seeing Appleseed. It came out in 2004, entire movie is CG animation down to the last flying speck of dust(literally). Ieva Mikolaviciute 1408 Yeah there are obvious weak areas to the story, but woah is it scary. John Cusack delivers a very good portrayal of a man in great, supernatural distress, while Samuel Jackson also does a decent (overacted...but what else is new) as the hotel manager. Donovan Henneberg-Verity 300 Its a pretty sweet movie...lots of action and stuff! I'd recomend it to anyone who loves action pact thrillers! Amy WIlson Child of Men by Jing Guo It's really nice. The story is very interesting. It's worth a watch! Transformers This movie was interesting and pretty good. I just felt like everything fell into place a little too easily. Everything always went right for the good guys. Just a little too cut and dry for my taste. Christa Torri Rush Hour It was ok. Tianhe Zhang Jackass: The Movie A classic and cinematic gem for the ages. Especially look out for "Night Pandas" and "Wasabi Snooters." Ryan Shields 300 Of all of the movies that have come out since I've been paying for movies, 300 was the most anticipated for me. The day it came out, I bought tickets at 2 in the afternoon for a 7 show, and it was worth it. It's the most beautiful and epic movie that I've seen in a long time. It also tells a tale like no other, one of struggle and defeat with its own heroic twist. Simeon Wooten Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix I was disappointed with the Fifth Harry Potter film because of the extreme difference between the book and film. Although it was entertaining, it left out, what I believe, to be very important information. The movie seemed to have put the book into a blender because events were out of order and information was lost. Jennifer Lewis This movie was amazing. The cinematography was great and the cast was very easy on the eyes. Anu Pillai This is one of the few Jackie Chan movie I actually laughed. Everyone knows Chris Tucker is the funiest guy ever, and he didn't dissapoint me this time either. This would be the bet movie if you don't want to think hard and have fun. Jayeon Yee Bourne Ultimatum I thought Bourne Ultimatum was the best of the Bourne series. It tied everything together and the other movies finally make sense. The camera work is a bit nerve racking. It holds your attention very well. I enjoyed it. Caleb Meister Ronak Vaidya Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix A phenomenal movie.. I am a huge fan of the books, and this movie stayed true to the plot better than any of the other movies. Also, special effects were amazing, especially the fight between Dumbledore and Voldemort and the flight of Fred and George from Hogwarts. Danielle McCurdy Link to this Page
