Today I took my girlfriend to Au Bon Pain in Atlantic Station. So. Freakin. Good. It is a bakery which serves pastries, sandwiches, salads and a handful of other things. It took me ten minutes to figure out what I wanted. Also, its fairly moderately priced. Try the strudels.

The Vortex Bar and Grill located at 878 Peachtree Street is the best burger in Atlanta. It’s been voted nationally as the best burger, but you have to go and try it. The atmosphere is fun with kind of a rock/punk setting, with music and a ton of crazy stuff on the walls. They have a full bar with some bartenders that know their stuff. Try the sweet potato fries they are amazing.

Pepperoni’s is an amazing pizzeria in my suburban town Duluth. I worked there for two years prior to coming to GA Tech, but I have also lived next to it for ten years (since it was created). Not only do they have pizza, but they also have amazing: wings, ribs, pasta (I adore the Chicken Florentine), calzones, salads and many other possibilities. The pizza there is award winning. Most say it is at least the best they have had in Georgia. Not only are the toppings fresh and there are tons of possibilities of creations, but even the crust is amazing. We season it with our “blessing” which is our homemade herb mixture mainly consisting of olive oil, garlic, and a variety of herbs. This place is simply a superb diner.

Pacific Rim Bistro is an awesome place in downtown Atlanta. Located at 303 Peachtree Center Ave NE, the restaurant has great eating for lunch and dinner. Their appetizers are from $5 to $10 and their dinners are around $20 each. The menu is comprised of Asian styled steak, chicken, and seafood with very good sushi, but they also serve more common food for those without eccentric tastes. It has a wonderfully soothing atmosphere and has a bar. Décor and service are excellent.
Personally, I went there for my prom’s dinner with a group of friends. The staff was courteous and gracious even to us teenagers. They had our table ready and waiting because we reserved a table for twelve online at www.opentable.com. It was perfect for my varied group of friends and would also be perfect for a small group or date.

Dante’s Down the Hatch is located at 3380 Peachtree Road right here in Atlanta. Dante’s is a great Fondue restaurant. The restaurant has a great atmosphere whether you are going out on a date or with a larger group. The whole place is designed to look like an old wooden ship, and achieves its goal quite well. Along with the wonderful atmosphere is outstanding food. I had gone with a group and we shared our food, and it was all most delicious. I highly recommend Dante’s for any special occasion.

Cafe Alsace This lil cafe is located in dactur- 121 E. Ponce De Leon Ave.- to be exact. It is totally French. The warm yellow walls, blue plaid table cloths, and kitchy ornaments transport you to a ally in the hart of paris. You'll find excellent service and dilatable cuisine. Yep, it is perfect for a quant date. Don't for get to oder one of the homemade pies. I would advise making reservations, or be ready to explore the cute shops as you wait to sit in their single room paradise.

Taqueria del Sol is located on Howell Mill Road in Midtown and also on East Ponce de Leon Ave in Decatur. It is a cheap Mexican restaurant with great service and a great menu. You order at the counter and within ten or fifteen minutes your meal is ready. The interior is also really funky and eclectic. It’s a great place for lunch. Don’t be scared if you see a long line because it always goes very fast. I would recommend getting two carnita tacos and the cheese dip.

Magggiano's Little Italy is an authentic Italian restaurant with 3 Atlanta locations. They have the best dessert and they are not as expensive as you would think.

Agnes and Muriel’s is located across from the Ansley Mall shopping center. It's a refurbished old house turned into a really good, really comfort food-oriented restaurant. It is a cute place to go for a lunch or dinner date (with your significant other or with just some good friends). Not cheap, but if you like southern food it’s definitely worth it. Everything’s fresh and homemade, and while you wait you get to look around at the old Barbies nestled in little nooks in the wall, and other kitschy decorating items. Has a quaint, old/50’s feel, with the creaky floors and everything! I would recommend the corn souffle and the green beans. The fried chicken is excellent as well.

Paulo's Gelato is THE best gelato in town. Paulo, the owner, is a pilot/veterinarian originally from Italy (if you ask him, he'll tell you about his life, it's amazing), and he makes gelato the traditional way as opposed to the Americanized way. As a result, it's a purely European treat, and you can enjoy it in a purely European environment complete with Venetian Carnival masks hanging on the wall. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, but make sure to eat every drop of gelato, because Paulo will confront customers who throw his creations away. He came up with all the recipes himself, so can you blame the guy? Nevertheless, it's worth stopping by in the Virginia Highland's neighborhood and sitting outside in the warm summer air while spooning copious amounts of creamy goodness into one's mouth. Enjoy!

Chow Baby has the absolute best meal for the best price in Atlanta. Nestled underneath 1016 Lofts on the corner of 10th street and Howell Mill Road, across the street from Slice Pizza Co., Chow Baby offers a modern mixture of asian american stir fry cuisine that for only about $15 for all you can eat, will fill up even the heartiest of men. The stir fry concoction first consists of your choice of rices, noodles, or pastas, that you fill into a bowl yourself. You then choose from about 20 or so fruits, vegetables, and nuts, all of which you add into your bowl yourself, so you're sure to get your ideal amount. Next you pick and choose from a multitude of sauces, dressings, and spices, making your own mixture that is sure to please. Finally, you fill a seperate bowl full of protein, with a selection from the normal chicken and steak to delicacies such as calamari, shrimp, talapia, salmon, and even tofu. Your bowl is then given to the chefs who stir fry all of your selected ingredients and portions into one hearty bowl that is deleivered to you by your waiter... and the feast begins. One bowl is sure to fill you up, but the best part of Chow Baby is, you can go back to the line to try a new recipe of your own as many times as you like, meaning you will never leave unsatisfied.

Rocky Mountain Pizza Rocky Mountain is one of the few true college hangouts around the tech campus. Their food usually leaves something to be desired however the atmosphere is not comparable to anywhere else in Atlanta. after all home football games many of the students at tech make the trek over to rocky mountain to talk about the game over somewhat good food and drink, and i encourage everyone to try to make this experience their own at least once during your tenure here.

Chili’s There should be a Chili’s on every corner. With very reasonable prices, attractive service, and a wide variety of menu items, Chili’s is a popular destination for any occasion. Their menu ranges from baby back ribs “barbeque sauce” to firecracker tilapia, but the ultimate spankers are their Molten Chocolate Cake and Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie. Starting with the Molten Chocolicious Cake – you will carefully crack into the chocolate that shells the giant scoop of cool vanilla ice cream. Working your way down through the ice cream, you will hit the top of the rich chocolate cake. Then digging into the cake, a gooey eruption of hot chocolate lava oozes out onto the plate and hopefully all into your mouth. The pie is just as good. Think of everything sweet and delicious, smashed into a square pie with ice cream on top, then you have yourself Chili’s Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie. Please swing by your nearest Chili’s!

Einstein's
...not to be confused with the bagel company...Einstein's is near piedmont park. I think it is on Juniper street, but then again I'm horrible with directions. The atmosphere is almost like a lounge, very sleek. There is a circular fire place in the bar/lounge, and if you go you must check out the bathrooms! I know this may sound wierd, but they're designed really cool, or at least they were 3 years ago. The food is a little pricy, but definitley worth it! Ideally you may want to go for appitizers and deserts. They used to have a tiramisu that was to die for! Seriously one of the best places to eat in Atlanta.

Food Studio, unfortunately is sometimes confused with Food 101. Do not make this mistake. Located at the King Plow Shopping center in west midtown, this pricey restaurant is worth every penny. Award winning chef, Mark Alba serves seasonal menus, from which one might choose between escargot, a selection of Georgian cheeses, or venison tar-tar for their first course. Last time I dined with The Food Studio, I chose the smoked ostrich for my entree. I was not disappointed. You will be treated with the absolute best service in Atlanta if you choose Michael as your server. The experience starts with you walking down a long, dark hall to the hostess table. The vastness of the "studio" is not realized until you are seated. You have a choice of sitting at the beautifully designed with dark wood bar, in the main dining area (including a romantic fireplace), or the loft area, which looks over the main dining area and twenty five foot windows. Dress is hip and urban. An eclectic array of desserts and barista drinks should end the evening well.

Bella's
One of my favorite restaurants is called Bella’s. It’s located on Bells Ferry Road and it’s amazing. If you want pizza or calzones Bella’s is the way to go. It’s a small restaurant but it’s inexpensive and so good! They give you so much food I always split my meals with someone. The employees are very friendly and helpful. There’s a small arcade for kids and bar for the adults. So if you’re looking for pizza I suggest Bella’s.

I love SUSHI!
No, not b/c I'm an Asian. If you are into Sushi or Japanese food (especially AUTHENTIC ONES), then you'll love Haru Ichiban on Pleasant Hill. Most of the Japanese Restaurants around your house are likely to be the imitators(I know, b/c I've worked at a few of them b4). They're usually owned by people who can't even tell the difference between sushi and sashimi(raw). HARU ICHIBAN is owned by a Japanese guy and all the kitchen staff are Japanese. It may be a bit expensive depends on what you order but if you've never tried some authentic Japanese food before I suggest you go do it.

US Café
For fresh hamburger meat that is ground daily visit US Café in Smyrna, GA. The Vortex burger is good, but the US Café burger is to die for. You can taste the freshness of all of the ingredients on the burger. If you have never had a veggie burger due based on a preconceived notion that they might taste like cardboard- then you must try one of their veggies burgers also. Ever have a French fry or onion ring that has never had its core temperature dip below 32 degrees? If not- you must try their fries also. They are cut fresh and never processed. For comfort food made fresh visit US Café.

Felini's Pizza
If you want some of the best pizza in Atlanta, Felini's pizza has several locations. My personal favorite would be the one located off of Howell Mill Rd. and Collier. You can either get a regular slice or get sicilian. I personally recommend the sicilian because it is twice the size of the regular for the same price, only difference is the crust. To add to the list, the patio enviroment is very nice over looking Howell Mill. It is an all around great place to go to get pizza and hangout with friends.

The Real Chow Baby
Chow Baby has a great atmosphere with amazing food. With so many food and topping choices and the ‘all you can eat’ dining style, The Real Chow Baby cannot be beat. The restaurant, located minutes from Tech campus on Howell Mill Road, has a relatively ‘high volume’ with upbeat music constantly playing as one dines at this fascinating American stir-fry eatery.

Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop is by far the best sub/sandwich that Atlanta has to offer, the ingredients are fresh and prepared in front of you, people are very nice and conversational, as well as being very close to campus. Another good quality, one of which I haven’t seen before, is a sandwich shop that delivers. If you have a craving for a Subway or any type of sub-sandwich, I would highly recommend Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwich Shop at the corner of 10th and State Street.
