Critical Listening and Questioning Assignments
Require review of lecture presentations and notes, a little research, a little reading (if assigned) and some reflection.
Seven Assignments over the course of the semester.
Each assignment is 3% of final grade.
18% of the total grade (six best).
Evaluated on three criteria:
- Content. Quality of thought, research, reflection
- Craft. Quality of writing; clear, concise, correct
- Structure. Clarity of organization; follow format as given
Grade:
- Excellent on all three criteria: 100+
- Satisfactory on all three criteria: 90+
- Satisfactory on two criteria: 80+
- Unsatisfactory on two criteria: 70+
- Unsatisfactory on all three criteria: 60
Essay: Critical Reading and Synthesis
Requires synthesis of material on a particular topic or issue. Students are expected to draw together material from a diverse set of sources including in-class presentations and assigned readings.
12% of the final grade.
Due: November 16
Group Research Projects
Requires library and empirical research, analysis, and presentation.
30% of final grade.
Due: December 10
