post your questions (and answers) in the box below

You mentioned that the onset of digital design may trigger the re-emergence of the architect as "master builder." If this were to occur would it not render the general contractor obsolete? It would seem that so much information is engrained in the computer model that beyond a construction manager there is no need for anything beyond sub-contractors. Do you envision the building market structure dynamically changing due to new methods of fabrication? How does the traditional contractor fit into this formula? Could this finally eliminate the RFI?

Why did you decide to put up the green wall in the place that you did? It seemed to separate the courtyard and the space to the north of the building, and cut off the flow in from one to another.
  • When it was installed, the new computing building was still under construction, which meant all the assorted unaesthetic detritus of such a large effort (think orange fencing). I seem to recall something being mentioned at the time about the project being a response to that.

Tristan, Can i have your email?
I have my personal project that related digital manufacturing process.
which required calculate area of the surface and its exact shape. (i need cut 0.100 gauge aluminum by routing machine. And structure will be welded.) Jae Gu my email: jgu8 at gatech dot edu. Thanks
