Team-Ear Bangers

Team Members: Jordan, Melinda, Michael
Uploaded Image: listen.jpg

Hi guys. How are you doing? I am planning to be at studio working on the othographic junk from 4 to 8 and maybe after 10. Tomorrow, Wednesday, I'll be scanning in my stuff so I'll be there but hopefull I'll have our homework done. Good luck on your explosions! Call me if you need me or any supplies.
Jordan

who changed the name back?!?! We're the Rocking Headphones! oh well. maybe i'll be mischievous later. too late at night. actually too early in the morning...

2.1 Form (Space) and Composition

2.. Investigate to Gather a Breadth of Data

a) Jordan; working on a proper orthographic drawings, inventory, and axonmetric junk. Woohoo!
b) Melinda; Im planning on investigating 2D and 3D drawings of the object made up purely of geometric shapes (this will be pretty abstract) (finish the geometric stuff, 2d layout, color)
-I'm keeping it in scale
- Axonometric version
c) Melinda; I'm probably going to model the hooks and maybe the earphones themselves (if I'm feeling creative I'll do the whole shabang). Also, I'm going to do some charcoals to investigate the surface of the headphones (concentrating on texture and highlights). I might even do a positive and negative space drawing to illustrate the lines of the earphones.
d) Michael; Proportion based on other parts (add color and organization (work with Jordan), combine onto one sheet, beautiful)
e) Michael; I'm wearing pants (j- good for you), axises and balance (add color, multiple layers)

2.2 Use and Operation

Ok guys, howsabout we meet Tuesday night? Then we can go ahead and take care of #1 and #3. But lets all go ahead and do number 2 individually this weekend and document the information that we gather; be creative and have fun!!!!
Yay! Fall Break!!!!

  • Sounds Great!! Can I join you guys on tuesday night?
  • here is the method for circle in Axon circles in axon.pdf
  • please take carefully a look at this file. You can see vary qualities of analyses precedent analyses.pdf

J speaking: Btw, love our team name, better than rockin headphones. but i still don't feel bad about rippin them apart. I should be back on campus by 8 so anytime after that on tuesday i'm good with. And Michael, the orthographic like drawings are in my flatfile in my sketch pad unless Melinda took them, then ask her.
-Melinda: I have the detailed sketches of the earphones, so if you need them before tuesday michael, go ahead and call, and I'll see what I can do. But I'll be back Tuesday morning, so I'm available all day (after 11am)

sorry bout that. I think I am about to explode. This is really a lot of work and looking at those examples makes me cry. How on earth did those people survive? No. Seriously.
Jordan, you are supposed to explode the object, not you!!!

J Again...
Here's what we've come up with for 2.2 part 1 and part 2;
p1: a- between parts
H(eadphone) Ear = Swing = Headband = Swing = H. Ear = Cord + Mic

b- between parts and body
Brain to left ear to left H. ear to swing to headband (to head to brain) to swing to right H. ear to right ear to brain to mouth to mic to right H. ear to cord to device to hand and back to brain. Diagram later. (if you follow that, ...amazing)
music, volume min(mute) to max, speaking=communication, 3 points of contact, ear, ear, head (+ hand, brain)

c- Primary is to listen to music (general)
Secondary - communication (specific)
Third - noise cancelling (by product)
Extras
4th - therapy for hearing, seeing, writing
5th - prebirth/pregnancy listening
6th - stress relief (by product of primary)
7th - Game enjoyment
8th - Privacy/isolation

p2: a) Music Room - not frequent use because of sleeping or ambient music but helpful for uses # 1, 3, and 8, good use when wanted
Book Store - Selection of products, used for # 1, 3, and 8
Dorms - mostly used for music but when available, used for online games like Halo 3, covers uses # 1, 2, 3, 7, 8
b) not in use until device introduced, put onto head, adjust for personal hit, device turned on, enjoyment until something disrupts or termination of device, then removeal and system is turned off, or return to activity until next disruption. Activity is not consistance or constant but is frequent.
c) People who use it (summary of interviews): enjoy its qualities, high frequency of use, not much technical knowledge, but purchasing knowledge usually high. Volumne preference varies but tends to be loud especially when used in high traffic or high ambient noise areas.
People who don't use headphones: Rare or nonexistant in this society
d) "My parents have gotten angry at me because I haven't heard them or wasn't listening fully."
"My cord got tangled and almost strangled me!"
"Why does the cord always get tangled no matter how I store them? Dang it."
"I never leave dorm without them; I love my music."
e) Views from different perspectives
Melinda: When looking for the qualities that headphones provide to each person, I asked for the first thought that pops into each person's head when I say the object, and then for them to explain why they thought of that (considering their position/job)
Student - Relaxation; gives a break in work inbetween classes; just helps relieve tension
Teacher - Distraction; keeps students from paying attention, but, if indeed there is no way to keep their attention, the 'glazed-over' look is often softened by their favourite music. Makes me feel less guilty that I don't keep their attention.
Gamer - Reality; the fact that the earphones allow the player to seemingly hear the game in surround sound, which helps make the whole experience more realistic
Musician - Focus; allows the musician to concentrate solely on his art, without being distracted by the audible activity in the world around him
Artist - Creativity; music allows emotions to flow rapidly through the mind, which is often when the best inspiration comes to an artist
Therapist - Emotion; allows the patient to focus on their internal thoughts and emotions; this will allow them to go about figuring out what it is that needs changing

JRL - Wow, so much information to create visuals for.... I call part 1! Michael, you're stuck with part two. Melinda, you are amazing and need time to sleep so, you got to finish up part 2 and get that inquiry book done. Don't worry about much else dear. Seriously. If I need help, I'll know where to find you. I got ideas for part 1 visual junk, involves camera, ink, black paper, multimedia, and lots o pictures and diagrams. The diagrams might be translated to part 3. Work work work. Tonight at 7 Michael and I will be here working on 1060 until Melinda shows up and she will join us. When done we start adding color. (make love not warcraft (thanks for the input michael)) What we don't get done tonight, melinda and I will continue on into the weekend and michael shall return (hopefully in glorious victory) on monday and we will finish up. Hopefully....

MAE: So yeah, sooooo much to do. Even when I have a full weekend. Does it never end? Sheesh. But my dearest, thanks for the break; please please tell me if anyone needs anything, I'm happy to help. I'm not THAT busy, hehe.
But there have been times the last couple of days that I've just wanted to scream. Just SCREAM. Gah. Can't... stop... must.... work..... arg....

mike–currently wearing pants, but I need help with the colored thing..stay beautiful ladies

J- the color thing will be fun to work on late tonight. Picked up two cans of energy drink, a four pack of twix, and energy mints. I'm good to go until late tonight. And I got a model for our headphones. Lots of pictures will come later. I hope they'll be useful.

m- i grabbed a six pack of beer so we are set

J: good lord look at the time, 12:44 am and the night is still young. so as soon as we devour the pizza, its back to work visualizing the stupid junk. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh.... brain doesn't like to function. Apparently melinda thinks i am loony. thanks melinda. but i think you're on equal terms with me.

OH GOD! MICHAEL JUST TOOK OFF HIS PANTS IN STUDIO!!!!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES! COVER YOUR EYES! THERE ARE TEENAGERS PRESENT!
note: We aren't kidding. The pants hit the floor
everything.... well almost everything... but especially this thing is true!

Hey Melinda, i'm sorry Macbeth is running so late. When you do get around to studio just look at the list above. Mostly its just finishing things up for you. Michaels going to cover material and fabrication. I'm working on assembly. Get some sleep ok? We're probably going to need to get caught up during studio. Call me if you got questions. I'll be working on Sci Fi at dorm. -Jordan

Melinda: OK, so I'm re-writing the list here with everything that still needs to be done; the stuff that's done s still in the other list. When you finish something, write DONE next to it on the other list and delete it from this one. (~12am)
