Our hope is that once you begin to appreciate how each medium or genre (type) of description lends itself to particular situations or privileges a particular understanding, you will be able to decide which tool, or technique, or type of 'drawing' to deploy in your inquiry. Please read through the 5 series of questions below, and offer your precise and articulate response for each set. 1. Consider each assignment on its own/or as part of a sequence. How did each challenge previous ways of looking at and describing the world? Did you feel that the focus was on teaching you how to 'use' a material or medium, or on how to 'think through' a material or medium, or a bit of both? Do you think that you were able to not only pick up 'skills' but also a sense of how to use them with some purpose or intention in mind? 2. Describe how Ex 1.5 in particular challenged you to first make a proposition and then to follow through on it. What did you learn from having to identify and articulate what to draw (what questions to ask in and through the drawing), and to specify procedures for how to draw it? 3. How did the moment of looking back, selecting, and curating work to hang for the final review help in the overall learning process? Did it help you see things that you had not noticed earlier when in the midst of doing the exercises? 4. How did the discussions during the final review help in learning process?
