Keep An Eye team Flyer.pdf

Here's Patient Communication's evaluation information. Sorry for the delay, my computer ate it then during the rewrite I kept getting distracted by the brilliant insights I was having about our code (see within). PatientCommEvaluation_Revised.pdf

Nurse Zone Cart- NIOSH SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS re: Sharps Containers

Ted/Rini: Sorry for the delay- sifting through pages of OSHA documents.........I just found what I was looking for! Michelle
1. We must have a biohazard label- good design or not! :)
2. Clear vision: Of the sharp and the container- The device must be see through to avoid overfilling and then a stick- perhaps just the shadow of it so you can see it is full, but not see the blood within.
3. The requirements seem to concentrate on the sharps container not being too high. "Jostling or dislodging" the container seems to be a concern, but then it is suggested to mount the container to the gurney, where necessary- or wheels if traveling- Traveling with a sharp appears to be a major concern- one we are addressing!

Take a look at the documents I attached- I am curious as to whether new sharps devices entering the market need to be evaluated by a compliance officer prior to sale- reading OSHA and NIOSH it appears there are fines for hospitals not in compliance with these standards- thoughts?
